Stones and Paula Deen
I am angry. I am outraged. I am offended.
If you don't wanna read what I have to say, just click that cute little "X" right now. The word Sassy isn't in this title for nothing! ;)
Have you ever said something you wished you could take back? Have you ever called someone a name? A really offensive name? Have you ever said something in anger that you really wished you could take back?
Oh you have? So have I.
Which brings me to the subject of my outrage today. Paula Deen. She's a nearly 70 year old woman born and raised in The South. She admitted to saying something, a long time ago and maybe a few times since then. She was honest, and now she's being torn apart by the media for being honest and admitting her mistake. When my dear MawMaw was still alive she used the same racial slur, frequently. Not saying it's right, I'm saying it was a way of life back then. It may have been offensive but more often than not it was just a word.
I understand that Paula Deen is not going to go broke. Girl is set for life. However, I am ashamed of big business for breaking up with her. So I'm breaking up with them.
Food Network: It's not me, It's You.
Goodbye Smithfield Hams! Y'all are no longer welcome at my Christmas dinner.
Matt Lauer: You're a jerk and I don't care where in the world you go.
Any other business who severs ties with her, I'll be severing ties with them as well. Because at the end of the day, we've all done things that we're not proud of. Said things that we wish we could take back. Hopefully you were treated with compassion and understanding. Why can't we do the same for this Goddess of Southern Hospitality and Cooking?
John 8:7 "But when they persisted in asking Him, He straightened up, and said to
them, 'He who is without sin among you, let him be the first to throw a
stone at her.' "
So. There.
This post is perfect.
ReplyDeleteYou are absolutely right. I am sure if she could go back and take it all back, she would but she can't.
she's apologized.. What more do you want from the woman?
Oh I'm in agreement, only thing I can't figure out is why it all matters supposedly now? I may have missed a few articles on it but didn't this all happen back when and now its coming to light? Makes no sense!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree. I think it's somewhat funny that she says it (not on National Television mind you!) while countless rappers say it and their songs top the charts. Something doesn't seem right here....!
ReplyDeletexoxo,
cYa
I agree! I love Paula and will continue to support her! I think there is more to the story, why bring it up now, it's not like she recently made the comment.
ReplyDeleteHated on the Playground
I know I didn't read or hear all the details, but my thoughts were similar to yours... I don't like ham anyway...
ReplyDeletePreach it!!!
ReplyDeleteAMEN! Poor Paula they just need to leave her alone! The Food Network just makes me hungry anyway.
ReplyDeleteThank you for posting this! In total agreement. So many other celebrities use the slur aka rappers but she says it years ago in a police report and suddenly she's a racist? Come on now
